Piano Recital - Students of Steve Escoffery
Post-Concert Note:
Thanks to everyone who was a part of this - the wonderful families I work with; everyone who performed; and my great friend, Noam Gaster, for being such an excellent host.
This was one of the most special performances I've ever been a part of.
Just like how hearing music you've written be performed by others is a very unique - kind of shockingly awesome - experience, I now know that hearing people you've taught (sometimes from when they were just learning Middle C!) perform challenging music powerfully and knowledgeably is another of a musician's most heart-warming experiences. Did I say that well? It was very profound for me.
It also struck me how I've helped people to learn fundamentals, and they've then used those to help carry across something that's unique to themselves - in the same way I've brought out my own inherent style after studying with my teachers (Ilya Levinson, Gustavo Leone, Robert Schmiehausen, Patricia Morehead, William Russo, Julie Ives, Donald Skirvin - to name a few; they're all a part of what I do). (Does all of this mean I'm getting old?!)
I'm glad everyone had a good time. I really did as well.
It looks like the recitals are going to become a twice-yearly event!
